EDW Claimed Students Reset - Upcoming

DESE sent the following message to district staff who have the “Data Warehouse Contact” function in Directory Administration. The claimed students “reset button” will be pressed on Friday July 15th. Please read below for more details.

(Note: If you are not the Data Warehouse Contact for your district, and you’re wondering who is, you can check by doing a search on the ESE Profiles search page. Select the function, and then enter your district name in the “Organization Keyword” field.)

Hello Data Warehouse Contacts and DSAC Data Specialists.

Well, it’s time to transition from the 2011 school year to the 2012 school year.

For the Education Data Warehouse this means clearing all the "Claiming" fields of the data you uploaded during the year either by sending us a file or transmitting it via the SIF process.  In the past this reset has taken place on July 1st.  With the introduction of the June release of MCAS data districts asked us to postpone the process a couple of weeks so they could run reports.

At the end of the day on Friday, July 15, 2011 we will clear the CUR_AUTH_SCHL and CUR_AUTH_DIST fields in the EDW.

Starting next week (July 18th), once you have "rolled over" your student information system to the 2011-2012 school year, you may upload a "claiming file" of all currently registered/enrolled students. Once you have successfully uploaded and accepted the data you will then be able to access MCAS and SIMS history for all students registered to be in your schools this September.

For those districts currently using SIF for claiming this process should happen automatically.  For further information please contact your ESE SIF representative.

For further information on creating a claiming file and uploading it to the EDW please see Chapter Three of the EDW User Guide located here:

In addition, the course will cover some of the new features that are available in the EDW. Participants will have an opportunity for guided practice with their school/district data. This course will NOT cover the functionality of the EDW cubes.
